From 12th to 15th August 2022, the Inner Wheel Club of Borivli, in association with M.P.S Poisar Hindi U.P. School No. 1 (BMC School), proudly celebrated India’s 75th year of Independence under the national initiative “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. This four-day celebration was organized to commemorate the glorious history, culture, and achievements of our nation while instilling patriotic values among students—the future builders of India.
Day 1 – Patriotic Rally & Cultural Expression (12-08-2022)
The celebrations commenced with a patriotic rally, where students beautifully portrayed national leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Lokmanya Tilak, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Inner Wheel members also enthusiastically participated by enacting inspiring personalities—Savitribai Phule (Club Trainer & PP Ketal Tapiawala) and Jhansi Ki Rani (President Jigna Mistry). The rally was actively supported by Secretary Jaynisha Sampat, Ruby Desai, PP Meena Kaku, and Chetna Shinde.
To enhance the patriotic spirit, 50 national flags were donated to students, generously sponsored by new member Chetna Shinde. The club also provided halogen lights for school decoration, adding vibrancy to the celebrations.
Day 2 – Rangoli Competition (13-08-2022)
On the second day, teachers and students organized a Rangoli Competition showcasing creativity and patriotism. The event was inaugurated by President Jigna Mistry, and PP Priti Abhani served as the judge. The program was attended by Vice President Bhavna Kapadia, Secretary Jaynisha Sampat, Ruby Desai, Jayshree Masali, and Chetna Vasani, who encouraged and appreciated the young artists.
Day 3 – Flag Hoisting & Essay Competition (14-08-2022)
The third day featured flag hoisting conducted by Vice President Bhavna Kapadia and Secretary Jaynisha Sampat, with PP Priti Abhani in attendance. The school also organized an essay competition, allowing students to express their thoughts on independence and national pride.
Day 4 – Independence Day Grand Celebration (15-08-2022)
On Independence Day, the national flag was hoisted by VP Bhavna Kapadia and Secretary Jaynisha Sampat, in the presence of PP Meena Kaku, Manisha Joshi, and Asha Sanghavi. Prizes were distributed to winners of the four-day competitions and sports events. Students were also honored with special recognition certificates presented by the Inner Wheel Club of Borivli. Sweets were distributed among students, spreading joy and celebration.
Following the school ceremony, Inner Wheel members—including VP Bhavna Kapadia, Secretary Jaynisha Sampat, PP Ketal Tapiawala, PP Bela Desai, Executive Member Ruma Desai, Purnima Thakkar, Ruby Desai, Renjini, Asha Sanghavi, Vanita Lalaji, Rizwana Kapoor, Arti Parekh, Khyati Mistry, Manisha Joshi, and Chetna Vasani—participated in a Mega Eye Donation Awareness Car Rally organized by Rotary Club of Borivali Eye Bank, jointly with the Inner Wheel Club of Borivli. The rally concluded at the bungalow of new member Chetna Shinde, whose family proudly continues a 75-year tradition of Independence Day flag hoisting.
Additionally, Zone 3 Coordinator & PP Sonal Chandarana represented the Inner Wheel Club of Borivli as Chief Guest at Priyadarshini School, where she hoisted the flag, spoke about Inner Wheel activities, and the club donated one month’s travel expenses for 10 students.
President Jigna Mistry expressed heartfelt gratitude to all members for their enthusiastic participation and extended a special note of thanks to Ruby Desai, acknowledging her invaluable support in making the four-day school celebration successful.
The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations from 12-08-2022 to 15-08-2022 truly reflected the Inner Wheel spirit of patriotism, unity, service, and commitment to nation-building.
